A man predicted the outcome of dozens of football matches to scoop £7,000 from his £1 punt with a bookmaker.

Alan Scott, 44, of Oughtibridge in South Yorkshire, put the accumulator bet on games in the UK and abroad.

He beat odds of 6,802 to 1 when 31 results went in his favour and luckily cashed in before the final game, which had been postponed, went against him.

A William Hill spokeswoman said: “In 100 years or more this has never happened before.”
